The Quattroporte is a car to fall in love with. At least, it was.
The previous gen still makes me smile.
This is the new one. Its design--
On the one hand it's typically Maserati with the grill and lines.
Still, something's not right with the design.
Maybe it's because the Maserati Quattroporte has increased in size.
It needs to be bigger. It has to compete with the S-Class, ...
Audi A8 / S8, BMW has models like these as well, Jaguar XJ--
The previous gen Quattroporte was too small in comparison.
This one has a lot more space.
You can sit comfortably on the back seat.
The doubts I have for the exterior, I have for the interior as well.
Some materials are very pretty, but others were borrowed from Chrysler.
This shouldn't be bad if it gives you the right feeling.
It doesn't with me.
Luckily, there's also good news.
The brand-new engine is made by Ferrari. A V8, but there's also a V6.
A 3.8 liter V8 is not extremely big, but it has 2 turbos and 523 hp.
It doesn't feel as quick as the numbers suggest.
We didn't bring the measuring equipment, so we can't verify this.
Top speed is 191 mph.
No German crap with Performance spec or Driver's package.
You'll buy a Quattroporte V8 which'll run 191 mph.
That's great, of course.
Acceleration from 0-62 mph is done in 4.7 secs.
Would I want this car?
Not that this is the bench mark, because (1) I can't afford one, ...
(2) I can't afford one, and (3) I can't afford one for now.
However, theoretically? No. It's one size too big for me.
I'd rather wait for the Ghibli, because that's the good news.
There will be a smaller Maserati, the Ghibli.
Competition for the Audi A6, Mercedes E-Class, Jaguar XF and BMW 5-series.
It'll come with comparable engines and probably a--
Sorry, I almost choked. A diesel. Indeed, a Maserati diesel, but yea...
Let's say the market asks for it.
I think that car'll be my better choice. This is a real yacht.
It's large. A lot of space in the back.
You can order two separate seats with a fixed center console, ...
and a mini bar; typically things you order on an S-Class.
You couldn't order it on a Maserati before.
Concerning driving and steering: ...
the Quattroporte has been raised to the limousine-class.
I don't know the official term, but think S-Class and A8 / S8.
Then you'll know what the Quattroporte feels like.
A large size bigger.
Of course, it has RWD and a diff lock, so the rear will step out.
However, it's not a drift king you'll throw around.
It doesn't suit the brand either.
Another bit of good news is the price. It's cheaper now.
The previous Quattroporte was over 200,000 euros.
This one is a bit cheaper with a V8: 195.000 euros.
A lot cheaper is the V6 with 140,000 euros.
There we are. The new Quattroporte. Not a car I'll fall in love with.
It's personal, but with the one blonde girl you'll meet you're like--
Hello, I'm Wouter.
To the other you'll meet at the supermarket you say: ...
"Hi, do you know where I can find the toilet paper?"
And you'll move on home with your bog rolls.
