First it is important to notice that our R&O cycle, or appraisal conversation as we say in english,
is one of the best among the Dutch universities, in my opinion.
So in that sense we are already really good.
But there are several things that can be improved:
for example the form; It is not very user friendly
It is not computerized, that of course is not very pleasant and means lots of manual labor.
And because we are making changes anyway, we decided to include some other things as well.
What stays the same is the bigger part of the cycle:
the preview, the conversation and the review.
In the preview we are going to develop a communal normative framework, to compare people.
To create a more objective appraisal of their performance.
The important real advantage for the employees is that we seriously evaluate.
How is this person doing? What can this person do?
What can this person mean for the organisation? Laid down in a fair way.
In this process the employee is the point of focus, evidently.
The pilot will be introduced at the faculty CiTG, they asked to be one of the pilots among other faculties,
so we had to make a choice.
and at DEMO (Service Electrical and Mechanical Service) the pilot will also take place.
This will be the base for further improvement, the upcoming years.
To introduce this pilot properly, several trainings are available for the executive and the employees.
It could for example, if it went well, be an element that we might introduce it in the eventual system.
