I'm going to now remove some white lines
to make the taxis look more inside of the lanes.
Selecting the Zoom tool, I’ll zoom in.
Using the Clone tool with the
following settings: Feather of 40,
no Transparency at all, & a Nib size of 12.
Right-click to create an anchor point,
the anchor is the nib with the + inside,
the clone will be created from this place.
Click & drag both the nib & the anchor nib
to clone from the anchor nib over the lines.
Undo if required & right-click to reposition the anchor.
F4 zooms to all objects.
I now want to mask two of the taxis.
The Z key selects the Zoom tool
From the Mask tools flyout, select the Magnetic Mask tool.
On the Property bar are two options, Tolerance & Magnetic area.
Tolerance is how far from the starting color the tool will seek.
The first click samples color at that click point.
Tolerance sets how wide the color range is from the starting color
as the tool seeks to find colors within tolerance.
The Magnetic area is the number of pixels from the starting point the tool will look.
Click & see how clever the tool is, it seeks the edges.
Also you can click & hold the mouse button down
and draw manually around any area.
This tool is great when there is good contrast between the object
and the background, as I have here.
If the tool stops finding pixels go back to within 10 pixels it will join up again.
It’s a fast masking tool to use in the right situation.
Double-click back at the start to join the mask ends.
Now select the Object Manager tab
then Ctrl + C to copy to clipboard,
then Ctrl + V to paste down to create a new object.
Now turn on Thumbnail Extents mode
to increase the thumbnail size for easier viewing.
Now remove the mask.
These marching ants are the Object marquee I’ll turn it off.
There is now a copy of the taxi on another layer.
I'll Repeat the same process now for the other taxi.
I have now masked, & copied & pasted,
down a copy of this taxi also.
There are now two taxi objects sitting in the Objects Manager docker.
Re-name the taxi’s to Taxi Right, & Taxi Left.
To select both, hold Shift & select both
then right-click & group together.
Now I have a group.
Select the background & choose Adjust then Image Adjustment Lab.
I'm going to lower the Saturation a little to
Shift the image more toward grayscale
leaving just a little coloring.
Click OK.
Go to Effects Blur & choose Motion Blur.
Set the Direction of the blur
to match the direction the taxis are moving.
Set the arrow pointing in that same direction
and set the Distance to 13 or 14 pixels.
Click OK.
Because the background was selected & not the group,
only the background was affected.
To expand the group, click the arrow
to see the two taxis.
Select the top taxi & then add a new lens.
By default, it will sit above the top taxi.
Object Create New Lens.
Choose Photo Filter & click OK.
By default, the filter is red in color.
Notice here inside the group, the new lens
is sitting above that taxi.
Select the color Magenta at 75% & click OK.
The lens creates an entire effect without
changing or altering the images.
Notice the filter is affecting everything.
Can you see the filter is over everything?
Even though the filter is part of this group,
It still affects the project.
The filter is affecting the background.
To demonstrate, I'll close the group.
In the Merge Mode menu there is a new mode called Pass Through.
The filter is affecting the background, because Pass Through is set,
everything below the taxis group will be affected.
Selecting Normal, results in only the taxis being affected,
all the other modes will also only affect the taxis.
Pass Through mode affects everything below, including the background.
To finish, I’m going to add some text.
Create a new object & rename to Text.
Choose F3 to zoom back out. Select the Text tool and click.
I have a copy on the clipboard which I'll paste here.
Now be sure to highlight all of that text.
Then go to Object Text & Character Formatting.
Having the text highlighted means that
we will see in real time, adjustments as they are made.
e.g. increasing the font size.
I will just move this down a little.
Entering a value also works, e.g. 120, then hit enter.
To change font, select the menu and type the first letter
of the fonts name. Ill type V for Verdana.
Select Bold & adjust the line spacing.
I want the top letter I to be outside the design,
and for the letter K to be below the edge of the image.
Adjusting character spacing will make a difference.
Increase or decrease and see the difference.
Notice all the adjustments are in real time.
Finally, select the color White, then deselect.
That's our final design.
I hope you have enjoyed this presentation of new features.
